Which events should I sign up for?
Adult
US Squash has a rating system for all players. If you are new to squash and do not yet have a player rating, you can use the description found on the US Squash Rating Criteria by Skill and Level page to figure out what level to start at. Please click here to access the US Squash Criteria by Skill and Level page.
However, if you have already had results recorded on your profile from participation in a league or an accredited event, your rating will start to be calculated after you have had at least one win and one loss against rated players. Once you have a US Squash skill level rating, you should sign up for events based on this rating.
For tournaments with skill level division, each division is an indication of the upper bound of the skill levels that are permitted to participate in that division. For example, a 4.5 division is open to only players who have a rating under 4.5 - anyone rated 1.5 - 4.49 is permitted to play in this division.
Players must be age eligible as of the first day of tournament play.
Junior
Junior Squash in the US is broken down into 3 main levels of tournament; Bronze, Silver and Gold. Usually players will start with Bronze tournaments. These are for the beginner players and they will often be completed in one day over a weekend. When a player has won a Bronze tournament or has done consistently well, he or she may then want to progress to Silver events. Silver events will often be completed in 2 days, over a weekend. Gold tournaments attract the top players from around the country, and are often played over the course of three days - they will usually start on a Friday evening and end on Sunday afternoon.
The top ranked players in each age group will generally prioritize participation in the Junior Championship Tour (JCT) and US National Championship tournaments as they offer the highest number of points. Participation in these events will require travel across the country.
Junior Age limits: Each tournament has draws for Boys and Girls, aged U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19. Juniors must be of appropriate age for every day of the tournament.
